We're crazy about wildflowers and here is why

Looking for instant gratification? Go on a wildflower hike! We would like to suggest that hiking for wildflowers is one of the easiest ways to start nature exploration.

Unlike birds, bugs, fish, or four-legged creatures, wildflowers stay put. They don't bite. They don’t fly away. A child can carefully touch and smell.

Start with plants, and before you know it, you and your family will start asking some questions. Why such a bizarre name bloodroot? Are Marsh Marigolds related to the garden variety? Why do these flowers grow here? Why now?

And there you have it! You are exploring nature, almost effortlessly.

Plan to go on a wildflower hike today. Get some inspiration from others who have gone before you. And, once you’re home again, let us know about your experiences. We gladly accept submissions to this site.

Brampton, ON -- (April, 2008) Wildflowers4Families launches its website just in time for the peak wildflower season to help families explore nature in and around the GTA.

Families can visit www.wildflowers4families.org for information about hikes within and around the GTA. Each walk offers detailed information about how to get to the trail head, what to expect, and what flowers will likely be blooming during specific times of year.

"Wildflowers offer one of the easiest ways to start nature exploration," says Nandy Heule, the website creator. "The site will help parents find easy or more challenging hikes which are sure to offer lots of flower viewing."

The website is a non-profit initiative sponsored by Heule Communications. Based in Brampton, the public relations agency works with accounting and law firms and non-profits in health care and international development.
